Cost Effective Business Locations

The centrality of the south Waikato results in excellent opportunities for distribution and transport operations, while our rural location means overhead costs for all businesses are generally much lower relative to large urban areas.

Lower purchase prices and rates make buying premises a viable option. You could also create your own purpose-built premises on any of the range of bare industrial and commercial sites available, utilising local operators who generally charge out rates considerably lower than their city counterparts. South Waikato District soils are predominantly pumice ash, with sandy loam at the northern end of the District, so the area is considered very construction friendly.

Commercial services are well provided, as are other support services which might be required by manufacturing operations. The area’s central location means any raw materials not available locally can be readily sourced, and products can be efficiently moved to national and international destinations by road or rail. The infrastructure of the District is well developed, facilitating manufacturing, transport and distribution. The major export ports of Tauranga and Auckland are both linked to the South Waikato by road and rail and have helped a number of firms develop their products export potential, from forestry machinery and expert engineering services to clothing for overseas markets. Centrality is also a key advantage for the high growth distribution sector.
