Business Friendly Protocols Project

The Business Friendly Protocols (BFP) project is an ongoing project involving a review of systems and processes throughout South Waikato Distruct Council, providing Council departments with the opportunity to evaluate, monitor and improve their level of service to the business sector.

The review requires departments to critique their internal processes and interactions with other departments as well as identifying areas where systems work, fail, or are being held up.

The aim of the BFP project is to develop a set of service standards that can be used as a guide when dealing with the needs and requests of the business sector. For Council it will assist in endeavouring to align current services offered in a manner more appropriate for the needs of the business sector and to develop business charters to ensure services are relevant, appropriate, delivered in a timely manner, and that there is accountability and transparency.

South Waikato District Council recognises the role they play in fostering a supportive and prosperous environment for business to operate and grow, and that the South Waikato District and its people will benefit from further economic development and increased opportunities for employment.

Overall, the aim of the BFP program is to; attract and retain business by promoting the South Waikato as a pleasant place to do business and promoting Council as ‘business friendly’; develop guidelines that ensure performance standards which are consistent with the expectations of the business sector; and implement a system committed to reviewing and analysing the effectiveness of protocols and systems.
