South Waikato Tourism and Events Strategy

The Tourism and Events Strategy builds on the Economic Spirit to develop tourism capacity and provide a positive image for the district.

Tourism provides not only economic benefits, but also delivers social, cultural and environmental benefits to the district.

To address long term community outcome statements, the Tourism and Events Strategy aims to grow tourism and events in the South Waikato by recommending enhancement of existing tourism product, suggesting possible avenues for new product development, and promoting the branding project being advanced by Council, including the growing clusters around water in Putaruru, lakes and walking trails in Arapuni, arts and crafts in Tirau and the growing sport, cultural and regenerated forestry town theme in Tokoroa.
